About This Role
Fountain Head House School is a thriving independent specialist school supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We are seeking a highly organised, professional and personable HR Assistant to join our dedicated team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the employee journey from recruitment through to onboarding, employment and leaving, whilst helping to maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, compliance and staff support.
The successful candidate will work closely with the HR Manager, providing efficient and accurate HR administration across a wide range of activities, including safer recruitment, staff records management, payroll administration and HR compliance.
About The Role
As HR Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day administration of the school's HR function. You will ensure employee records are maintained accurately, support recruitment and onboarding activities, assist with compliance monitoring, and provide professional administrative support across a range of HR processes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
HR Administration & Employee Lifecycle
- Maintaining accurate electronic and paper personnel records in line with GDPR requirements.
- Preparing contracts, contract variations, confirmation letters and employment documentation.
- Supporting absence management administration, including return-to-work documentation.
- Assisting with employee leaver processes and payroll notifications.

Safer Recruitment & Onboarding
- Supporting the delivery of end-to-end safer recruitment processes.
- Coordinating interview arrangements and preparing recruitment documentation.
- Obtaining and verifying pre-employment checks.
- Maintaining the school's Single Central Record (SCR).
- Coordinating induction processes, including safeguarding and SEND-specific training.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensuring HR administration complies with employment law, safeguarding obligations and education regulations.
- Supporting mandatory training monitoring and compliance reporting.
- Assisting with workforce data reporting and HR projects.
- Maintaining accurate records to support audits and inspections.
Team Support
- Responding professionally and confidentially to HR queries.
- Supporting HR meetings, documentation and casework administration.
- Providing occasional reception support and contributing to whole-school events.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive staff culture.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, discreet and committed to delivering high-quality administrative support.
Essential Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- CIPD Level 2 or Level 3 qualification.
- Experience in an administrative or HR role.
- Experience handling confidential information.
- Understanding of safer recruitment principles.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong Microsoft Office and IT skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
