The Opportunity:

As a key member of our small HR Operations team, reporting to the HR Service Delivery Lead, you’ll be more than just an employee; you’ll be on a mission to provide top-tier HR support that assists our people to deliver groundbreaking solutions in defence, space and cyber security.

From supporting employees and managers with their queries to ensuring seamless onboarding experiences and handling payroll changes with precision, your role is a vital one.

By looking after our people, you’ll be helping us to create a legacy in delivering cutting-edge solutions to the defence, space and cyber security sectors that help protect the national security of the UK and its allies. With a global footprint, we operate from more than 10 sites across the UK, employing around 900 people in the UK.

The role:

  • Providing dedicated HR support, working closely with the HR Business Partners and wider HR team, assisting employees and managers alike, ensuring a seamless resolution to any challenge faced.
  • Managing the bustling HR mailbox, ensuring each query receives a prompt and helpful response.
  • Extending a warm welcome to new hires by supporting the end-to-end process of onboarding new hires, including issuing offer paperwork and overseeing pre-employment checks.
  • Executing payroll changes with precision and care, ensuring smooth transitions for all contractual changes, leavers, and the all-in-between.
  • Regularly producing insightful HR reports from Excel and Workday, with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency.
  • Managing the lifecycle process for contingent workers, from onboarding to termination, confirming that all contractors pass their background checks.
  • Professionally handling reference requests for current or former employees.
  • Maintaining meticulous employee records, guaranteeing legal compliance and confidentiality always.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Significant HR administrative experience, ideally covering the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Strong people skills – you communicate positively and with professionalism when supporting employees, managers, and your colleagues.
  • HR systems expertise - previous experience using HR systems, with a strong focus on data accuracy and consistency.
  • Efficiency and proactivity - you like to work smart, not just hard. You find ways to get things done effectively rather than just ticking off tasks.
  • Natural problem-solving skills - HR is fast-paced and priorities shift. You can navigate competing demands, think on your feet, and help streamline the way we work.
  • Team contribution - you collaborate effectively with others, always step in to help when needed, and want to contribute towards the wider team achieving its goals.
  • Attention to Detail and Accountability - You take care when handling confidential HR data, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Knowledge of UK employment law - a solid understanding of key HR legislation and how it applies in practice.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
  • GCSE grades A to C / 5-7 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, ensuring strong written communication skills and numeracy.

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, HR Shared Service environment.
  • Experience using Workday.
  • CIPD Diploma in Human Resources Practice (Foundation) Level 3 (or equivalent).

Security clearance:

Due to the nature of our work, you must be a UK national for this clearance type.

You must be able to gain and maintain SC-level UK Government security clearance.
