A typical day as a HR Administrator

No two days look exactly the same here, and that’s part of what makes it work.

As a HR Administrator, you’ll play a key part in keeping things moving for our customers, suppliers and The Pros around you. You’ll take ownership, solve problems properly, and work with people across the business to make things simpler, faster and better.

You’ll be trusted to get stuck in, make decisions, and see things through.

Hybrid working, with a minimum of three days a week based in the office.

What you’ll be doing

As HR Administrator, you'll be the first point of contact for all HR-related queries, playing a key role in ensuring a smooth employee experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling all administrative tasks
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting HR processes
  • Assisting with payroll and low-level casework
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and UK employment law

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries for colleagues and managers, providing guidance on general queries, policy and procedures, and escalating to the HR Advisor or HR Business Partners as necessary
  • Take ownership of the HR Mailbox, handling a variety of ad-hoc queries efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Support first-level Payroll queries, escalating to Payroll as needed
  • Complete a variety of administrative tasks relating to the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and offboarding to changes during employment
  • Manage Right to Work checks and maintain compliance with legislation and onboarding of all new colleagues into the business
  • Provide references for external requests, such as employment references and mortgage applications
  • Support colleagues and managers with the administration of family leave and pay, providing policy guidance so every colleague has a positive and consistent experience
  • Maintain the HR system, ensuring up-to-date colleague data and performing regular data cleanses when necessary
  • Maintain probation processes, notifying managers where necessary and issuing outcome letters
  • Work closely with the HR Advisor, HR Business Partners, the HR Director or Recruitment on project work or tasks as required
  • Support the business by providing data and insight reports as required
  • Handle sensitive data and information confidentially and in line with GDPR at all times
  • Support the business in making data-driven decisions by ensuring no gaps in colleague records, such as notice periods, reward & benefit information and probation periods
  • Assist with business initiatives, including employee engagement, wellbeing and other HR projects

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
