Are you an experienced administrator looking for a varied HR role within a supportive and established HR team?
We're looking for an organised and proactive HR Administrator to join the Altro Group, on a 15 month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, supporting both Altro and Autoglym. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering an efficient and professional HR service across our business. We would be looking for the successful candidate to start in early December 2026. This is a hybrid working role, where there is a requirement to be in offices based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire 3 days a week.
No two days are quite the same in this role. You'll provide essential administrative support across the employee lifecycle and work closely with the wider HR team to ensure a first-class service is delivered to employees and managers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining employee records and acting as a superuser of our HR and Payroll system (XCD).
- Producing regular and ad hoc reports.
- Preparing employment offers, contracts and associated documentation.
- Supporting onboarding, contractual changes and employee departures.
- Monitoring key employee milestones including probation reviews and anniversaries.
- Managing the HR inbox and responding to HR-related queries.
- Raising purchase orders and processing invoices.
- Supporting Occupational Health administration, including referrals, appointments and health surveillance records.
- Sending employee communications and drafting HR correspondence.
- Providing administrative support to HR Business Partners and the wider HR team.
- Covering Recruitment Administration activities when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
