HR Advisor | North Birmingham - Hybrid Working | Full Time, Permanent | £38K + benefits

We're supporting a well-established organisation in the appointment of an HR Advisor to join its growing People function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join a fast-paced, multi-site environment, partnering with managers to deliver effective people solutions and support wider business performance. Offering a broad generalist remit, the role will combine hands-on employee relations with manager coaching, organisational development and involvement in wider HR initiatives.

The Role

Working closely with operational stakeholders and the wider HR team, you'll provide practical advice across a broad range of people matters, helping managers navigate challenges, make informed decisions and build confidence in their people management responsibilities. You'll take a proactive approach to employee relations, supporting early resolution, improving management capability and ensuring people processes are applied consistently. Alongside your advisory responsibilities, you'll contribute to business-wide projects and initiatives designed to enhance the employee experience and improve organisational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance across the full range of employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievances and attendance.
  • Support and coach managers in handling people issues confidently and consistently.
  • Promote effective people management practices and ensure decisions align with employment legislation and internal procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for early intervention and help resolve workplace issues constructively.
  • Support employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, flexible working and family-related matters.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the People function to deliver an effective and responsive HR service.
  • Provide HR support during organisational change, restructures and employee consultation processes.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment and talent-related activities.
  • Review workforce information to identify trends, highlight potential risks and inform management decisions.
  • Support initiatives relating to employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and retention.
  • Contribute to HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement activity.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and developments in HR practice.

About You

You'll be a commercially aware HR professional who can build credibility quickly, establish strong stakeholder relationships and operate confidently in a varied operational environment.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in a generalist HR advisory role.
  • A sound understanding of UK employment legislation and employee relations.
  • The ability to influence, coach and challenge managers appropriately.
  • Confidence managing sensitive issues and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to work autonomously.
  • The ability to use data and insight to identify trends and support improvements.
  • Resilience, sound judgement and a high level of professionalism.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience supporting organisational change, consultation or TUPE processes would be advantageous. A CIPD qualification at Level 5 or equivalent practical experience is expected, together with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
