The Role

The HR Advisor will be responsible for the ‘hands-on’ delivery of our comprehensive HR service.

The post-holder will be responsible for offering advice to managers and employees based on the different companies Terms and Conditions of Employment and in line with their Policies and Procedures. Responsible for our Northern BU and Plant Department.

The role will involve office-based tasks, site and project office visits, and interaction and meetings out on our construction sites in the North, including Scotland.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Recruitment and Resourcing: Covering the process from start to end; advice to managers on the role and salary banding, the advertising of the role, ensuring procedure is followed during the full recruitment process. To manage to offer and acceptance stage.
  • Work closely with the L&D Advisor to identify any learning and gaps in knowledge that have been identified from the recruitment and induction and to follow these through with the manager and employee.
  • To be present in and People Management sessions delivered to look to identify possible cases and trends that we can address with managers. Follow up the sessions with managers to ensure their knowledge is transferred into practice.
  • Employee Relations: Covering all people management meetings. Including Investigations, Disciplinary & Grievance, Sickness absence and Occupational Health, Performance Improvement issues, Restructuring activity. Ensuring appropriate ER advice, support, and education to managers, tracking, monitoring, and follow up of cases, attendance in meetings is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To represent the department at external Audits, with support from the HR Managers.
  • Work closely with the L&D Advisor to identify any learning and gaps in knowledge that have been identified from the recruitment and induction and to follow these through with the manager and employee.
  • To be present in and People Management sessions delivered to look to identify possible cases and trends that we can address with managers. Follow up the sessions with managers to ensure their knowledge is transferred into practice.
  • Assist with information for board meetings, analyzing data, identifying trends, and assisting with ad-hoc projects/department needs and general office & admin duties.
  • To assist with the review of People Management policies and procedures and ensure they are up to date, adhered to in practice, and continually look to improve, to ensure they are meeting our business needs.
  • Project Work: To assist with research/production of ad hoc projects (e.g. annual salary/bonus increases, general employee communications).
  • Assist on projects (e.g. lay-offs, redundancy, reorganization, etc). Ensure the Company’s core values are embedded in all decisions made and shape your behavior.

What We’re Looking For

To deliver a fully autonomous service the post-holder will be:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or hold extensive stand-alone generalist HR experience.
  • Experience of dealing with multiple sets of terms and conditions of employment and policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly establish and maintain strong relationships across all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to help ensure the delivery of a fast-paced HR service.
  • Hands-on experience of managing and conducting employee relations meetings.
  • Knowledge of employment law and best practice.
  • To be resilient with a positive and confident approach.
