About the Role
There’s a lot happening across Project Better Energy. Our businesses are growing, new teams are coming together, and our managers are working out what they need to deliver the next stage of our plans. We’re looking for an HR Advisor who wants to be right in the middle of that.
You’ll work closely with managers across our group, helping them handle people matters well, build strong teams and support their people through change. Some days that will mean giving clear, practical advice on an employee relations issue. Others will mean coaching a manager through a difficult conversation, helping a newly acquired business feel part of the group, or improving an experience that isn’t working as well as it should.
This is a broad role with plenty of variety. You’ll also contribute to manager training, support recruitment when needed, and help us build stronger connections with the communities and future talent around our businesses.
We’d love to hear from someone who enjoys building relationships, brings sound HR judgement and is comfortable getting involved. You don’t need to have worked in renewable energy before, but you should be excited by the opportunity to support a business that’s growing and changing.
Essential
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or strong HR Officer/Assistant role with exposure to employee relations.
- Experience providing practical HR advice directly to managers.
- Experience supporting or managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance/capability matters.
- Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Strong written communication skills, including producing professional HR correspondence and documentation.
- Able to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively.
- Comfortable challenging and coaching managers where appropriate.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to undertake the administration associated with the role.
- Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Able and willing to travel regularly between Burton/Stretton and Hyde and to other Group locations when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
