Role Title: HR Advisor

Location: Carlisle - Travel to Newcastle
Duration: 6 Months - Extension available
Rate: £35kp/a FTC

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to support our site-based operations in Carlisle, with occasional travel to Newcastle as required. This is a varied generalist HR role, providing day-to-day advice and support to managers and employees across a range of employee relations and HR administration activities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting people-related processes, ensuring HR documentation and records are maintained to a high standard, and helping drive HR best practice across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on a range of HR matters.
  • Support and manage employee relations activities, including:
    • Absence management cases
    • Disciplinary investigations and hearings
    • Drafting correspondence, including invitation and outcome letters
    • Taking minutes during formal meetings
  • Assist managers with attendance management processes and employee wellbeing matters.
  • Respond to general HR queries relating to policies, procedures, pay queries, workwear, and time & attendance systems.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data, ensuring compliance with company procedures and employment legislation.
  • Lead the organisation and improvement of the site's HR archive system, including the creation of a structured and compliant filing process.
  • Review, update, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation as required.
  • Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Produce HR reports and data analysis to support business needs.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • CIPD Level 3 qualified (minimum).
  • Significant experience within a generalist HR Advisor or HR Officer position.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including absence management and disciplinary processes.
  • Experience preparing HR documentation and formal correspondence.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Confident using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or operational environment.
  • Experience of reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of HR data management and reporting.
