Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys building positive relationships, supporting managers and employees?

We are seeking a Part Time HR Advisor to join our friendly and supportive team, working 30 hours per week over 4 days (Tuesday - Friday), based on site with some local travel to our other services.

This is a varied, hands-on operational HR role where you will work closely with managers across all our services providing practical HR advice and support. Reporting directly to the HR Business Partner, you will play an important part in the delivery of high quality HR services, ensuring our people are well supported and our policies and procedures are applied consistently and fairly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working proactively with managers on a range of people related matters including employee relations cases, HR policy and best practice, wellbeing, flexible working, and absence management
  • Lead and manage an employee relations caseload, including supporting with investigations and hearings, ensuring they are conducted in a timely manner and in line with employment legislation and best practice
  • Providing training, coaching, and advice to line managers, ensuring procedures are adhered to for all cases including discipline, grievance, performance, and ensuring a consistent and fair approach to people management
  • Through the monitoring and analysis of absence trends proactively support managers in managing absence effectively across their service area, providing advice on best practice and supporting with referrals to the health and wellbeing service
  • Liaise with Payroll provider in regard to new starters, leavers, and other employment changes to ensure Payroll is correct and updated accurately
  • Support with external and internal recruitment processes including issuing contracts of employment, pre-employment checks, and other relevant correspondence

We are looking for someone who is approachable, organised, and shares our values. You'll have:

  • CIPD Level 5 Qualified (or working towards) or relevant experience
  • Proven experience as a HR Advisor or in a similar generalist HR role
  • Previous experience of employee relations casework
  • Previous experience of organisational change
  • Previous experience of recruitment
  • Experience in the care sector, or a regulatory service, would be advantageous
  • Ideally a driver with access to a car, as occasional travel between Southend Care sites is required
