About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR assistant or HR co-ordinator looking to step up to an HR advisor role within a highly-respected, established book publishers. Based in fabulous offices in central London, you will be part of a small but highly effective HR team supporting a lively, energetic, creative workforce.
Reporting into the Head of HR, the role supports recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, payroll, benefits, and day-to-day HR administration, while providing clear first-line guidance within agreed policies and escalating complex or sensitive issues appropriately.
Duties
- Recruitment and onboarding: supporting processes from approved job description through to offer stage and new starter set-up.
- Learning and development: maintaining L&D records, collating needs from appraisals and requests, researching suitable training options, and co-ordinating the bookings process.
- Payroll, benefits, and HR administration: assisting with preparing monthly payroll change information and payroll checks. Maintaining employee records and trackers and supporting the administration of benefits.
- Responding to routine employee queries on benefits, pension, and People & Culture processes, escalating where advice or interpretation is needed.
- Providing first-line, practical guidance to managers and employees on established People & Culture policies and procedures.
- Supporting efforts for employee well-being, retention, and development.

Requirements
This is a genuinely fantastic opportunity for someone to build their generalist HR skills in a supportive and encouraging working environment. It would suit someone with:
- Approximately two years+ UK-based HR experience in the media, advertising, or creative industries.
- A commitment to building a long-term career in HR.
- An interest in Learning and Development.
- Curiosity about learning more about the publishing industry.
- An appetite for exploring new digital tools, including AI, to improve ways of working appropriately and responsibly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with an outgoing, proactive approach and superb attention to detail.

Salary
Between £34,000 and £36,000 dependent on experience plus great benefits.
