Your New Role

As an HR Adviser - Employee Relations, you will play a key role in providing professional, pragmatic and solutions-focused employee relations support across the organisation. Acting as a trusted adviser to managers and employees, you will ensure that people matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation, organisational policies and best practice.

Working within a collaborative People Services team, you will manage a varied employee relations caseload, support organisational change initiatives and consultation activities, contribute to policy development and help enhance management capability through coaching, training and guidance. You will also use workforce data and insights to identify trends, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert employee relations advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Manage a diverse employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, probation, flexible working and dignity at work matters.
  • Support managers through both formal and informal employee relations processes, promoting early intervention and effective resolution.
  • Attend hearings, appeals, consultations and meetings, offering professional advice and identifying potential risks.
  • Support organisational change programmes, workforce transformation projects and consultation exercises.
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of people policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Design and deliver training, coaching sessions and briefings on employee relations topics.
  • Analyse employee relations data, identify emerging trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees, trade unions and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate case management records and management information are maintained in line with data protection requirements.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience providing employee relations advice and guidance to managers.
  • Strong background managing a broad range of employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, attendance and capability matters.
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation and experience applying policies and procedures in practice.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical and commercial people advice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and consultation processes.
  • Ability to coach and support managers to develop effective people management practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, assess risks and recommend solutions.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR systems.

What You'll Need to Be Considered

  • CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management, equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience in employee relations, employment law, organisational change or people advisory services.
  • Mediation qualification or willingness to undertake mediation training.
  • Evidence of continued professional and personal development.
