The Service & Team

Key areas of responsibility for the team include:

  • Trade union consultation, negotiation and partnership working
  • Pay and reward frameworks
  • Terms and conditions of employment and collective bargaining
  • Employee benefits
  • Employment policies and guidance
  • Undertaking employer functions regarding local authority pension schemes
  • Job evaluation and related processes

The Role

Working within a small and supportive team, the HR Advisor contributes across a range of Employment Strategy activities. This may include supporting consultation and negotiation with trade unions, implementing pay awards, developing employment policies and guidance, advising on terms and conditions, and supporting the Council's responsibilities as an employer within local authority pension schemes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to broaden their experience in strategic and specialist HR. The role offers exposure to a wide range of people management disciplines, providing valuable learning and development opportunities in a supportive environment.

Working Pattern

The role is available full time for five days a week but flexible working arrangements will be considered in conjunction with working arrangements for other team members

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable managing your workload independently while working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant HR experience and a willingness to develop knowledge and expertise across specialist HR disciplines. CIPD study or membership is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of employment law, HR best practice, and employee relations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and influence stakeholders
