About The Role
Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives on managing ER casework? We're currently recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor to join our People & Culture team here at Arco on a 7 to 8 month fixed term contract depending on when the successful candidate joins Arco.
The HR Advisor will strive to improve employee relations across the business providing specialist employee relations advice and guidance on the management of employee relation cases and policies, whilst maintaining knowledge of the business, HR trends and employment legislation.
The role is a hybrid position with a mix of office working from our Head Office in Hull and home working, 1 or 2 days a week working from Head Office, and we are open to considering both full time and part time applicants for this role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing a professional front-line advisory service that supports employees and managers with HR policy, process and system queries, aiming to resolve as many at first point of contact as possible
- Analysing confidential and sometimes complex information sources to make sound judgements on owned ER cases (disciplinary, performance, grievance and absence), providing advice, counsel and resolutions to managers in order to ensure legal compliance and mitigate business risks with minimal escalation
- Coaching line managers on complex ER matters, acting as a trusted Advisor to stakeholders to resolve employee issues and build management capability
- Reviewing documentation including occupational health referrals, disciplinary investigations and performance improvement plans
- Applying a commercial mindset to advice given, providing pragmatic solutions, while ensuring that an appropriate risk radar is applied to review any potential challenge including legal and regulatory
- Building good working relationships and communicating effectively with all key stakeholders, including the HRBP team, people managers and colleagues
- Supporting the wider HR team in delivery of the overall HR strategy and key business projects
- Providing training sessions to managers across the business on HR policy and processes e.g. absence and performance management training
- Ensuring employment policies and decisions are applied consistently across the business

About You
The ideal HR Advisor will be/have:
- A professional qualification of CIPD Level 5 or equivalent is desirable
- Knowledge and experience of providing generalist HR advice and correspondence with an in-depth knowledge on adherence to current legislation to ensure legal compliance
- Experience of working in a confidential environment and providing specialist/ generalist HR and ER advice to colleagues and Line Managers with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of HR Policies, procedures and systems
- Highly focused on customer service with demonstrable understanding of excellent service delivery
- Experience in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint
