Sullivan Brown Recruiting is delighted to be partnering with a growing client to recruit an experienced HR Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and expanding business in a standalone HR role, where you'll have the autonomy to shape and develop the people function while supporting the organisation through its next phase of growth.
As the business's dedicated HR professional, you will deliver proactive, high-quality HR support across a diverse workforce, including remote, field-based, and site-based employees. You'll play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive workplace culture, ensuring employees feel supported, engaged, and connected, regardless of where they work.
Acting as the trusted advisor to managers and employees, you'll provide practical guidance on employee relations, HR policies, wellbeing, and employment legislation while driving best practice across the employee lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact by building robust HR processes and supporting a growing business with a people-first approach.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees, providing advice on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
- Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance issues.
- Provide practical guidance to managers to ensure consistent and legally compliant decision-making.
Employee Engagement & Wellbeing
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture.
- Champion employee wellbeing initiatives across both office-based and remote teams.
- Help ensure all employees feel engaged, valued, and connected to the wider organisation.

Learning, Development & Performance
- Support managers with performance reviews, development plans, and succession planning.
- Coordinate learning and development activities to enhance employee skills and career progression.
- Identify training needs across the business and support continuous professional development.
HR Compliance & Policy
- Ensure HR policies and procedures remain up to date and are consistently applied.
- Maintain compliance with UK employment legislation, GDPR, and HR best practice.
- Review and develop HR processes as the business continues to grow.
HR Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Produce HR reports and workforce data to support business decisions.
- Assist with recruitment, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding activities when required.
About You
We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working autonomously and building strong relationships across a business. You'll be comfortable operating as the sole HR specialist, balancing strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to day-to-day HR activities.
You will have:
- CIPD Level 5 in Human Resource Management (or equivalent), or be working towards it.
- Previous experience as an HR Advisor, People Advisor, HR Business Partner, or similar generalist HR role.
- Experience working in a standalone HR position or the confidence to step into one.
- A strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing a broad range of employee relations cases.
- Confidence supporting both office-based and remote or field-based employees.
- Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, approachable, and solution-focused attitude.

Experience or qualifications in employee wellbeing or Mental Health First Aid would be advantageous but are not essential.
Key Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in:
- Delivering generalist HR support across diverse workforces.
- Managing disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management processes.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities.
- Developing and implementing HR policies and processes in line with employment legislation.
- Delivering wellbeing initiatives and employee engagement activities.
- Supporting performance management, appraisals, and development planning.
- Maintaining HR records and producing meaningful HR reporting.
- Working closely with managers and senior leaders to support organisational growth and business objectives.
