HR ADVISOR

Derby | Monday–Friday | Fully on-site

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join a growing operational business and play a key role within the HR function.

This is a hands-on HR role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, working directly with managers and employees, and taking ownership of HR matters from start to finish. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will become a trusted point of contact for managers across the business, providing practical advice and support across the full employee lifecycle.

This is not an HR administration or coordination role. We are looking for someone who is confident dealing with employee relations, can use their judgement, and is comfortable taking ownership of HR matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Take ownership of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, and performance cases.
  • Support managers through difficult and sensitive conversations.
  • Advise managers on HR policies and employment legislation.
  • Manage HR cases through to resolution, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Support absence and attendance management.
  • Provide advice around performance and capability.
  • Support recruitment, selection, and onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience.
  • Support HR projects and wider people initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates to the Head of HR on significant employee relations matters.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity for an HR professional who wants genuine ownership rather than simply supporting an HR function administratively.

You will work closely with the Head of HR and become a key member of the team, taking ownership of day-to-day HR matters and making a tangible difference across the business.

The role offers:

  • 30 days' holiday
  • Free on-site parking
  • Health and wellbeing package
  • Life assurance
  • £500 refer-a-friend scheme
  • Monday–Friday working pattern
  • Fully office-based, five days per week
  • Opportunity for professional development

The Ideal Candidate

Ultimately, we are looking for someone who can become the trusted right-hand to the Head of HR.

Someone who is comfortable walking into a difficult employee relations situation, gathering the facts, understanding the issue, advising the manager, taking appropriate action, and keeping the Head of HR informed.

If you are an experienced HR professional looking for a role where you can take genuine ownership and have a visible impact, we would like to hear from you.
