What are we looking for?
The HR Adviser leads the delivery of high-quality, consistent, and legally compliant HR advice services across the business unit. The role ensures managers and employees receive timely, practical guidance on employee relations, policies, and people management issues, while driving continuous improvement in HR advisory services. They place a strong focus on the management of case work to support the building of capability of our line managers, liaising regularly with Senior HR Business Partners and the Learning and Development Manager for escalations.
Key Accountabilities of the role – IT: What I do

Employee Relations Expertise
- Provide expert advice and guidance on employee relations matters including probation, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and performance issues
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies.
- Mitigate business risk through proactive case management and sound judgment.
- Stay updated on UK employment law and ensure advice reflects current legislation.
Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor service performance using KPIs and feedback.
- Identify trends in HR cases and recommend proactive interventions.
- Drive improvements in processes, systems, and service delivery models.
- Embed best practice and standardisation across HR advice activities.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, HR Business Partners, and key stakeholders.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers to strengthen people management capability.
- Act as a trusted advisor on people-related matters.
Policy & Compliance
- Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure consistent application of policies across the business unit.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including case work logs and people systems.

Data & Insights
- Analyse HR case data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Produce regular reports and insights for management.
- Use data to inform decision-making and workforce planning.
Occupational Health & Wellbeing
- Manage occupational health processes including referrals, case management, and follow-up actions.
- Coordinate and book health surveillance appointments in line with regulatory requirements and organisational policy.
- Monitor and track occupational health cases, ensuring timely progression and resolution.
- Provide guidance to managers on occupational health reports and recommended adjustments.
- Support absence management through proactive referral to occupational health services.
- Ensure accurate and confidential record-keeping of all occupational health activity.
HR Projects & Initiatives
- Contribute to HR projects such as engagement surveys, wellbeing initiatives, and organisational change.
- Support change management activities within the business.
Shared Accountabilities – US: Making it better together
Health & Safety responsibilities
- Develop and implement the health and safety policies and procedures. Allocate the resources for the health and safety activities and initiatives.
- Ensure that the team leaders and team members comply with the health and safety legislation and standards and review and evaluate the health and safety risks and control measures in the work area and make improvements.
- Communicate and consult with the team leaders, team members, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters.
Social & Environmental responsibilities
- Set clear and measurable social and environmental objectives and targets for your area and align them with the company's vision and values.
- Monitor and evaluate the social and environmental performance and impact of your area and report on the progress and challenges.
- Allocate resources and provide support and guidance to your team leaders and staff to enable them to deliver on their social and environmental responsibilities.

- Strong experience in Employee Relations or HR Advisory roles.
- Deep knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Ability to handle complex and sensitive cases with confidence.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
