Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Aberdeen

Hours of Work: 08.30 - 16.30, Monday to Friday

To provide a professional HR advisory service to UK staff and management teams, ensuring adherence with Company Policies and Procedures and compliance to current employment legislation.

Roles & Responsibilities

General

  • Delivering effective day to day support to UK staff and management teams, including but not limited to disciplinary investigations and hearings, grievances, absence management, performance management, flexible working requests, maternity, consultations, TUPE transfers etc.
  • Building effective relationships with colleagues across all levels of the business.
  • Providing support to managers and employees when dealing with personal, sensitive and confidential personnel issues.
  • Managing recruitment requirements in line with the Company's recruitment processes.
  • Presenting Company induction.
  • Supporting the development of HR Information Systems.
  • Supporting staff training and development.
  • Contributing to commercial bids and tenders.
  • Compiling weekly and monthly HR statistical reports, and additional adhoc reporting as required.
  • Managing the flow of employee data to the HR Department's Shared Services team.
  • Participation in regular review of HR policies and procedures for effectiveness, practicality, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Supporting the delivery of specific HR related projects including Graduate and Apprentice recruitment and the Employee Satisfaction Survey, and any additional adhoc project work as and when required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent
  • Full UK driving licence

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Demonstrable depth and range of HR advisory and support skills, including in Employee Relations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Customer focused.
  • Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability, confidentiality and integrity.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, produce and present clearly articulated, well-structured reports using qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Committed to the development and growth of the business.
  • Proactive approach to work with the ability to work autonomously while remaining active within the wider HR team.
  • Commercial/business acumen.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
  • Knowledge/understanding of UK HR legislation / Employment Law.

Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

  • Degree qualified in HR or business management related subject.
  • Experience in a Unionised environment.

HSSEQ

In partnership with the HSSEQ department, ensure the continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance and compliance to all laws, regulations and industry standards/codes.

  • Reports all incidents or breaches of policy or regulations to the line manager.
  • Fully endorse the ASCO 'Stop the Job' policy and commitment to proactive intervention where an unsafe act or condition is observed.
  • Adherence to ASCO's integrated management system ensuring document control and improvements to key processes is maintained.
