HR AI & Automation Operations Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a HR AI & Automation Operations Lead based in United Kingdom.

As HR AI & Automation Operations Lead, you will design and implement intelligent automation solutions that improve global HR operations.

You’ll work at the intersection of HR, technology, process optimization, data, and AI within a highly distributed environment.

The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on technical execution, taking initiatives from early exploration through production and continuous improvement.

You’ll connect systems, streamline complex workflows, reduce manual work, and help teams operate more efficiently at scale.

Working closely with Operations, Product, Engineering, Design, and IT, you’ll turn operational challenges into scalable and reliable solutions.

You’ll also help establish responsible AI practices for sensitive HR workflows, with appropriate governance, oversight, and auditability.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an autonomous professional who enjoys solving complex operational problems through technology and automation.

Accountabilities

  • Own automation initiatives from discovery and process redesign through prototyping, launch, optimization, and ongoing operational ownership.
  • Use customer and employee feedback, operational data, and business insights to identify opportunities to improve HR experiences, efficiency, and outcomes.
  • Assess risk, compliance, scalability, and regulatory requirements when designing HR automation and systems.
  • Map operational processes, identify bottlenecks, and design end-to-end automated workflows that improve speed, accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
  • Build and maintain integrations and data flows across HRIS, case management, payroll, and other systems using APIs, native connectors, webhooks, and workflow tools.
  • Develop automation solutions using low-code/no-code platforms such as Zapier, Make, Retool, n8n, or similar technologies.
  • Implement and govern AI-enabled tools and agents for use cases such as document processing, query triage, policy guidance, data auditing, and operational support.
  • Design multi-agent workflows, including routing and maker/checker patterns, with appropriate retries, fallbacks, guardrails, human oversight, and change controls.
  • Establish automation observability and governance practices, including logging, tracing, agent-run evaluation, access controls, and auditability for sensitive HR data.
  • Develop and maintain operational data models that support reporting, compliance, auditing, and data integrity initiatives.
  • Build and improve HR Operations dashboards and reports using SQL and BI tools such as Tableau, Sigma, or comparable platforms.
  • Lead cross-functional change management, training, adoption, and continuous improvement for AI and automation solutions.
  • Act as a technical lead for AI and automation within Operations, helping establish best practices and scalable ways of working.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the ongoing development of automation and operational capabilities across the department.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
