About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity if you are keen to start your career in HR, starting from the bottom and learning everything along the way this could be the right role for you. We are looking for someone who is confident in dealing with sensitive information, a good communicator and has a strong attention to detail.

What You'll Do

  • Provide admin support as required by the HR team and help manage the central inbox
  • Support with the recruitment process, including, liaising with candidates/third parties/managers in scheduling of interviews, preparing offers and contracts of employment
  • Support the onboarding process for new starters, ensure that background screening checks are carried out fully (using our third party) and any issues are escalated to the Business Partner
  • Help to maintain an accurate and efficient HR database (BambooHR) with employee information and necessary documentation, including administering new starters, changes and leavers on the system
  • Maintain HR intranet page
  • Participate in HR projects as admin support if required including the annual compensation project
  • Provide support to other areas of the business, this will include but not be limited to answering calls on reception, account creation and some post duties as well as customer services
  • Any other request deemed reasonable from your line manager or Business Partners

What You'll Learn

Course Contents

  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Training Schedule

In-house training plus the candidate will follow a Level 3 Apprenticeship programme and study towards a full Standard as a HR Support. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College – South & West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A-C (9-4) in Maths and English, or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 1 Functional Skill in the relevant subject.

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade C/4)
    • Maths (grade C/4)

Other Requirements

The role is based in our Chester City Centre office, so you need to be able to get here daily. Car parking may be provided depending on distance from your home address.
