About The Role
Based in Kettering, this permanent HR and Payroll Administrator role suits someone who enjoys keeping pay accurate and processes organised. Working 25 hours each week, the post-holder manages weekly and monthly payroll runs, assists staff across office and site locations, and supports the Head of Finance alongside operational managers. Strong payroll knowledge, attention to detail, and confident use of HR systems are essential, particularly as a new pay platform is introduced. Salary ranges from £21,000 to £24,000 annually, dependent on experience, with genuine scope to refine existing procedures and contribute meaningfully to an established local business.
Getting people paid correctly and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes makes a real difference to any business. As an HR and Payroll Administrator, you'll take ownership of weekly and monthly pay runs, support employees across office and site-based teams, and help improve the systems that keep everything organised.
You'll be working closely with the Head of Finance and operational managers in an established Kettering business. With a new pay system being introduced and opportunities to improve existing processes, you'll have the chance to put your experience to good use and make a genuine impact.

Your responsibilities as HR and Payroll Administrator
- Process weekly and monthly pay runs, ensuring hours, overtime, deductions and employee changes are accurate.
- Coordinate employee administration, including new starters, onboarding, contractual changes and leavers.
- Maintain accurate holiday, absence and employee records, including probation reviews and training renewals.
- Respond to employee queries and provide administrative support with employee relations matters.
- Support the introduction of a new pay system and improvements to the existing People First platform.
- Prepare reports, maintain accurate data and identify opportunities to streamline processes.

What we're looking for in a HR and Payroll Administrator
- Proven experience managing end-to-end pay runs, ideally including weekly payments and variable hours.
- Practical experience supporting operational people processes within a business.
- Previous experience working in a construction or manufacturing environment.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using business systems to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
- Experience with People First, system implementation projects or a relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.
This is an on-site position based in Kettering, with occasional travel to other sites.
Working hours: 25 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements available.
