About This Role

HR and Payroll Administrator

Grade 5 SCP 12-17 (£28,598 - £31,022 FTE)
£17,550.51 to £19,038.11 (actual annual salary)
25 hours per week | Term Time Only + 3 Weeks | Permanent

Based in Woodley, Berkshire

The Orchard Learning Alliance is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised HR and Payroll Administrator to join our growing Central Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support our schools and central services by providing high quality HR and payroll administration across the Trust. Reporting to the Head of Human Resources & Payroll, you will play a key role in ensuring our people processes are delivered efficiently and in line with employment legislation and safeguarding requirements.

  • Recruitment and onboarding administration, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews, and undertaking pre-employment checks.
  • Preparing contracts, offer letters, and HR correspondence.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and supporting absence, probation, and compliance processes.
  • Processing payroll variations including starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, and pension amendments.
  • Responding to HR, payroll, and pension queries from employees.
  • Supporting safeguarding, employment compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Assisting with HR process improvements and Trust-wide reporting.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Is highly accurate with strong attention to detail.
  • Can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information appropriately.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and other digital systems.
  • Enjoys working independently whilst also contributing positively to a team environment.

Previous experience in an HR or payroll administration role, experience within the education sector, and knowledge of payroll systems would be advantageous, although not essential. Please refer to the job description attached for full details.
