I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About The Company
To help us understand how we need to show up to provide the kindest possible care, we have identified 5 Qualities. These are the qualities we know we can coach, support, and develop in ourselves and each other so we can support those we care for to live their best life.
- CURIOUS: You ask questions to understand what is holding up a check or a start date, and look for the root cause rather than the symptom.
- COMPASSIONATE: You remember that every check you process belongs to a real person waiting to start, and you keep them informed, reassured and supported throughout.
- CREATIVE: You find practical ways to keep onboarding moving, working around obstacles without ever compromising compliance.
- COURAGEOUS: You chase, challenge and escalate when a check is at risk of delaying a start date, however senior the person you need to speak to.
- COUNTED ON: You do what you say you will, keep records accurate and up to date, and give managers and colleagues information they can rely on.
