£28,000 per annum
Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm
Office based in Basildon
Bluebird Care is looking for an organised, approachable and proactive HR & Recruitment Assistant to support our busy HR and recruitment functions.
This is a varied role covering recruitment, onboarding, employee administration, compliance, engagement and wellbeing. You will help us attract and welcome excellent team members while ensuring every candidate and employee receives a professional, positive and supportive experience.
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in Adult Social Care, ideally within domiciliary care. Previous HR or recruitment experience would be an advantage.

What you’ll be doing:-
Recruitment
- Supporting the end-to-end recruitment process
- Screening applications received through recruitment platforms and internal referrals
- Arranging interviews and assessment activities
- Completing pre-employment checks, including references, right to work checks and DBS applications
- Maintaining accurate recruitment trackers, records and applicant databases
- Keeping candidates informed throughout the recruitment process
- Supporting recruitment events, job fairs and community engagement activities
- Working with the Training Team to arrange inductions and mandatory training for new starters
Onboarding and HR administration
- Coordinating a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience
- Ensuring required employment documentation is completed and returned
- Preparing employment documents, letters and other HR correspondence
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
- Responding to routine HR and recruitment enquiries
- Helping employees understand relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Providing general administrative support to the HR and Recruitment teams

Compliance
- Monitoring and auditing HR systems to ensure records remain accurate and compliant
- Reviewing mandatory training compliance and following up on outstanding requirements
- Supporting audits of HR documentation and processes
- Monitoring probationary periods, right to work documentation and other compliance requirements
- Helping ensure our practices meet company, legal and regulatory standards
Employee engagement and resources
- Promoting employee benefits, wellbeing initiatives and support programmes
- Assisting with staff surveys, engagement activities and recognition programmes
- Supporting reward and recognition initiatives
- Managing uniform stock, orders and allocation records
- Applying relevant uniform charging or reimbursement arrangements
What we’re looking for
Essential
- At least two years’ experience working within Adult Social Care, preferably domiciliary care
- An understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
- Knowledge of office administration and effective record keeping
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with candidates, employees and colleagues
- A professional and confident communication style
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow tasks through to completion
- Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
- Confidence using online systems and databases
- A reliable, trustworthy and professional approach
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively
- A proactive, positive and flexible attitude

Desirable
- Previous experience in an HR or recruitment role
- Experience recruiting within Health and Social Care
- Experience using HR systems and Applicant Tracking Systems
- Knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practice and safer recruitment
- Experience supporting a diverse workforce across multiple locations
- Experience maintaining HR, recruitment or compliance records
- Experience producing HR reports or analysing workforce data
- Experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
