The Centre of Excellence (COE) forms part of our wider People team, comprising Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and Diversity.
Your Role
This two-year HR Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to build a career in Human Resources by rotating through our Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and Diversity teams. You will gain practical, hands-on experience while collaborating with each group to deliver an integrated Centres Of Expertise (CoE) experience.
Being an Apprentice at News UK
During your time with us, you will earn above the national living wage while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training. You’ll work 4 days a week with News UK and spend 1 day studying toward a fully funded Level 5 CIPD qualification. Along with mentorship from top industry professionals, we will provide any tailored support you need to reach your full potential.
Day to Day
- Support with all advertising of vacancies, including drafting job adverts in line with best practice.
- Maintain our applicant tracking system and manage daily operational workflows.
- Assist the TA team in sourcing and screening top-quality candidates.
- Assist in the coordination of our company-wide induction programme for new joiners.
- Support Learning & Development initiatives by coordinating event logistics, room bookings, and training schedules.
- Manage central mailboxes to resolve internal and external employee queries promptly.
- Administer key systems within our Learning Management System to support continuous learning.
- Support Diversity team in organising cultural calendar events.
- Work on Early Talent programmes including delivery of outreach and news literacy.
- Support payments and processes.
What We're Looking For From You
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Bring a genuine enthusiasm for learning and a clear drive to build a long-term career within Human Resources.
- Ability to communicate clearly and build positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
- Adapt quickly to new processes, digital tools, and HR administrative systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly to streamline daily tasks, combined with the critical eye needed to check and verify information for accuracy.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail when managing records, data, and written correspondence.
