Manchester (Hybrid) | Full-time | 37.5 hours per week

Clarke is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HR Apprentice to join our HR Team, providing administrative support across a wide range of HR activities while completing the Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in HR, gaining hands-on experience across the employee lifecycle whilst working alongside experienced HR professionals in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

The Role

As an HR Apprentice, you will provide accurate, efficient and confidential administrative support across the HR function. You will support key stages of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, absence management, benefits administration, learning and development, reporting and employee wellbeing initiatives.

Working closely with employees, managers and the wider HR team, you will develop practical HR knowledge and experience while delivering a responsive and professional service across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update employee records and HR systems accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Prepare and process HR documentation, letters, reports and electronic documents.
  • Support employee lifecycle administration, including new starters, contractual changes, benefits and leavers.
  • Manage and respond to routine queries through the HR inbox, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
  • Provide basic guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures and processes.
  • Administer annual leave, sickness absence and other employee leave records.
  • Support payroll administration and assist with employee change processes.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and candidate communications.
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks, right-to-work documentation and onboarding activities.
  • Support and deliver elements of the company induction programme.
  • Produce regular and ad hoc HR reports using HR systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Support employee wellbeing, benefits and learning and development activities.
  • Assist with training administration, record keeping and monitoring training completion.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake and successfully complete the Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship, applying learning in the workplace.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately with data and maintain attention to detail.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an administrative, customer service or office-based environment.
  • Experience using databases, HR systems or electronic record-keeping systems.
  • Interest in developing a career in HR.
