About the Role

Gaining hands-on experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR systems. We need a motivated, organised individual who enjoys working with people and wants to build a long-term career in HR. Receiving training, ongoing support, and developing valuable professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job vacancies, arranging interviews, and communicating with candidates
  • Supporting the onboarding process for new starters, including preparing documentation and coordinating induction activities
  • Maintaining accurate employee records on the HR system
  • Assisting with processing changes to employee information
  • Supporting with employee leaver information and offboarding
  • Monitor training activities and learning records as part of the in-house Academy
  • Escalating general HR enquiries to the HR Administrator
  • Assisting with wider HR project and initiatives when required
  • Ensure all HR activities are carried out confidentially and in line with company policy and data protection requirements

Course contents

Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice, and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.

Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues/collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.

Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.

Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.

Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Training schedule

Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer.

Block release/Day release

You will undertake the Level 3 HR Support standard.

You will undertake both on and off-the-job training by a team of industry qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience that will help you become a HR assistant of the future!

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 4/C)
    • Maths (grade 4/C)

Other requirements

  • You must be able to travel to and from work and college.
  • Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
