Job Purpose
Working alongside experienced HR professionals, you will gain valuable experience across a range of people-related activities and develop an understanding of how HR policies, processes and practices support both our colleagues and the wider business, while studying towards a CIPD-accredited Level 3 Human Resources Apprenticeship.
As part of the People team, you will gain exposure to a broad range of HR disciplines, including Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This varied experience will provide a strong foundation in generalist Human Resources and support your long-term career development.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a varied workload, contribute to key people initiatives, and work alongside experienced colleagues to apply your academic learning in a practical setting. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills, build meaningful relationships, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the employee lifecycle.
You will join a supportive, collaborative and experienced People Team committed to helping you succeed and achieve your full potential as an HR professional.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the implementation, review and maintenance of HR policies, procedures and people processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Accurately collate, maintain and analyse HR data, producing reports and information as required.
- Act as a professional first point of contact for HR enquiries, responding to calls and directing queries appropriately.
- Record and manage employee absence information, ensuring updates are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide administrative support in relation to Employee Relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary, grievance and absence management processes.
- Maintain employee records and documentation, ensuring HR systems, case management systems and departmental trackers are accurate and up to date.
- Monitor key employee lifecycle activities, including probationary review periods and fit note expiry dates, providing reminders and escalating actions where appropriate.
- Support the delivery of employee wellbeing initiatives, including conducting welfare conversations and health reviews under guidance and in line with company procedures.
- Prepare HR correspondence, documentation and meeting packs as required.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that support the wider People Team and business objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information in accordance with data protection requirements.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the wider People Team as required.

Experience & Knowledge
- Professional and approachable attitude with a general willingness to learn.
- An understanding of Human Resources and a genuine interest in developing a career in the profession.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy when handling information and producing documentation.
- A proactive approach to learning, problem-solving and continuous personal development.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a professional, positive and customer-focused approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
Qualifications Required
- 3 A Levels / or BTEC with a Distinction (predicted grades are acceptable)
- Minimum 5 GCSEs including English & Mathematics at a Grade 9 - 5 or A - C
- Equivalent qualifications will be considered
