About the Role
Northland Controls is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our growing global Human Resources team in Letchworth, UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized professional who enjoys supporting people, coordinating administrative processes, and contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced environment. In this role, you'll provide administrative support across our Human Resources, Training, and Safety functions while helping ensure our HR operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day HR administrative activities by preparing, maintaining, and organizing employee documentation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Maintain employee records and HR data within our HRIS (Paycom), spreadsheets, and other internal systems.
- Monitor the HR inbox, respond to employee inquiries, and follow up on outstanding HR requests.
- Coordinate recruitment activities, including interview scheduling, candidate communications, onboarding documentation, and orientation logistics.
- Support employee referral tracking and assist with recruiting administration.
- Coordinate training and development activities by tracking enrollments, submitting course registration forms, monitoring purchase orders, and maintaining training records.
- Maintain employee certifications, compliance documentation, and digital training histories.
- Support workplace safety initiatives by maintaining incident logs, tracking corrective actions, monitoring safety training completion, and assisting with compliance reporting and internal communications.
- Assist with HR compliance activities, including background checks, I-9 verification, benefits documentation, and employee file maintenance.
- Track approvals for job requisitions and employment offers while assisting with standard HR templates and offer letters.
- Partner with HR colleagues across global locations to support documentation, process consistency, and shared HR initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for additional HR, Training, Safety, and special projects as assigned.

Requirements
- 1–2 years of administrative experience, preferably within Human Resources or office administration.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English is required; German language skills are a plus.
- Experience using an HRIS or Applicant Tracking System (Paycom preferred).
- Previous experience supporting a global or fast-paced organization is desirable.
- Familiarity with training coordination, workplace safety administration, or HR compliance is an advantage.
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career in Human Resources and workplace compliance.
