Are you looking to start your career in HR? We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Assistant to support a wide range of East Sussex staff with their HR administration.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, well-motivated person who is positive, flexible, and well-organised. Working as part of a busy and supportive team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records for staff on our payroll system and on our electronic DBS platform. You will be the initial contact for queries from staff, managers, and external bodies, so excellent customer service skills are essential along with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
It is not essential that you have experience as an administrator; and although previous computer skills are required, full training will also be available to the successful candidate. As an entry-level role, we are open to hearing about your transferable skills, so please detail them in your application.
Our teams work in a hybrid style and mix office attendance with working from home.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Can work with accuracy and attention to detail
- Are communicators
- Are committed to delivering customer service
- Can work effectively, calmly, and often under time pressure

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
