Location: 75 East Hill Colchester, Essex, CO1 2QW
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Fixed-term - up to 12 months

About the Role

Stivic Care Services is looking for a proactive HR Assistant to join our domiciliary care service on a temporary fixed-term contract (up to 12 months). You will provide high-quality, compliant HR support across recruitment, onboarding, training administration and day-to-day people queries—helping our teams deliver outstanding care in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & onboarding: Support vacancy posting, interview coordination, offers, references and onboarding packs.
  • Safer recruitment & compliance: Assist with right to work checks, DBS administration and maintaining clear audit trails.
  • HR administration: Prepare contracts, letters and documents; maintain accurate employee files and HR systems.
  • Training coordination: Book mandatory training, track completion/expiry dates and keep training matrices up to date.
  • Employee relations support: Prepare paperwork, take notes in meetings and draft outcome letters for absence, capability and conduct processes (with guidance).
  • HR reporting: Produce basic reports/KPIs (e.g., headcount, turnover, sickness, training compliance).
  • First-line HR queries: Respond professionally, signpost policies and escalate complex issues appropriately.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an HR Administrator/Assistant role (care sector experience welcome but not essential).
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organisation and confidence managing competing priorities.
  • A professional, discreet approach—comfortable handling sensitive information.
  • Good IT skills (MS Office; Excel desirable) and experience using HR systems.
  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is desirable.
