Our client is an established international bank with a UK presence. It is looking for an HR Assistant Manager to support the Head of HR across a broad, varied remit. You will handle day-to-day HR generalist work and take ownership of a specialist area, such as learning and development, talent, performance management or pensions and benefits. You will also support the Bank's ESG objectives.
You will work closely with the HR Associate to keep HR processes running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Process
- Deliver accurate, timely and cost-effective HR services, and manage HR data and systems professionally
- Work with the Head of HR to update HR-owned policies, including the Staff Handbook, Remuneration Policy, Code of Conduct and Senior Managers Regime policies
- Support the annual performance review cycle, including salary increases, promotions and special salary adjustments
- Assist with tasks linked to the Senior Managers Regime (SMR)
- Complete monthly compliance reports on training and ESG, plus any other reports required by management and Head Office
- Lead the data collection for the annual Group Training and ESG report

People
- Carry out training needs analysis with department heads and produce a bank-wide training plan
- Design and deliver bespoke training, and make sure staff complete Head Office and local e-learning on time
- Deliver the Bank's induction programme to new joiners and keep the materials current
- Train staff on performance management and appraisal processes
- Manage relationships with external training suppliers
- Lead talent identification and succession planning with department heads
- Support pension administration
Customer
- Give HR advice and support to staff at all levels, explaining policies and procedures clearly
- Help run staff benefits, programmes and events
- Advise line managers on employee relations cases, including probation reviews, settlement agreements, grievances and disciplinary matters
- Champion ESG across the Bank, and design and run ESG events with charity partners to encourage staff participation
Compliance and Risk
- Comply with all applicable regulations, codes and Bank standards, and act with integrity
- Follow risk control procedures to identify, assess, report and mitigate risk in day-to-day work
- Help ensure the Bank meets FCA and PRA requirements, including SMCR and GDPR

Requirements
- Educated to Degree or above
- Qualified CIPD Level 3 or 5
- Candidates will have 6 to 8 years of HR experience, with a background as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist
- Experience in banking or financial services is essential
- Working knowledge of UK employment law
- Experience facilitating training courses
- Strong attention to detail and time management
- Confident in all Microsoft Office applications
- Adaptable and a quick learner, comfortable with a varied workload
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience developing an organisation-wide training needs analysis
- Exposure to the Senior Managers Regime and remuneration regulation
- Experience writing policies and procedures
