HR Assistant

Location: Ross-on-Wye or Wolverhampton (Office-Based)

Join HSL Compliance

As our HR Assistant, you will act as the friendly first point of contact for internal workforce queries, manage essential employee lifecycle processes, and maintain meticulous digital HR records.

From coordinating pre-employment checks and drafting contracts to partnering directly with Payroll ahead of monthly cut-offs, you will play a crucial role in delivering a welcoming new-starter journey and maintaining HR compliance across the entire business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Answer general HR queries from managers and staff across the group in a helpful, timely manner.
  • Draft offer letters, contracts, and change letters; lead pre-employment screening (including Enhanced DBS checks) to ensure smooth, compliant inductions.
  • Coordinate seamless administrative workflows for new starters, internal transfers, and leavers.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time employee data in our HR databases, managing records in strict compliance with GDPR.
  • Support monthly payroll processing by submitting employee variations, starter/leaver details, and pay amendments before strict cut-offs.
  • Track mandatory learning, administer employee training programmes, issue certificates, and support line managers with compliance tracking.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an HR, people-focused, or busy administrative role (Essential).
  • Experience using HR databases and systems with an aptitude for handling confidential information.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or a strong willingness to work towards one) is highly desirable.
  • Approachable, responsive, and clear communicator with excellent written skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong time-management skills.
  • Understanding of basic UK employment legislation and HR best practices.
