About The Role

We are delighted to be partnering with The Portfolio Group to support the appointment of an experienced People Business Partner. This pivotal role is designed for a strategic HR professional who can operate at a senior level, influencing and shaping the organization’s people strategy across multiple projects and business units. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement initiatives that drive organizational performance, enhance employee engagement, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact the business positively by providing expert HR guidance on complex employee relations, organizational change, workforce planning, and talent development. As a trusted advisor, you will be instrumental in fostering a high-performance culture and supporting the company’s growth ambitions in a challenging and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent, with Chartered membership preferred.
  • Proven experience as a senior HR or People Business Partner, ideally within consultancy, engineering, infrastructure, nuclear, or other highly regulated project-based environments.
  • Extensive expertise in employee relations, including managing complex and sensitive cases independently.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application in the workplace.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, restructuring, and transformation initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using people data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and deliver people plans aligned with business objectives, ensuring strategic consistency across teams.
  • Provide expert HR advice and challenge to stakeholders at all levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practice.
  • Lead and manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary actions, grievances, performance management, absence issues, restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers.
  • Support organizational change initiatives, including workforce planning, restructuring, and transformation programs, ensuring smooth implementation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Analyze people data and trends to inform strategic decisions, identify risks, and uncover opportunities for development and improvement.
  • Drive consistency and quality across HR processes, policies, and practices, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
  • Coach and develop managers to enhance leadership capabilities, people management skills, and employee engagement.
  • Contribute to broader HR projects such as organizational design, talent initiatives, diversity, equity & inclusion programs, and process optimization.
  • Champion the use of emerging technologies, including AI and data analytics, to enhance HR services and support business outcomes.
