Introduction
At Lewisham Council, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team following the successful progression of the current postholder into a new role.
What’s the role?
As an HR Business Partner, you will join a high-performing Business Partnering team, working closely with leaders and managers across the Council to deliver proactive, strategic and operational HR support. You will play a pivotal role in driving organisational performance, supporting workforce transformation, enhancing employee engagement, and delivering positive outcomes for our people and communities. The role offers the opportunity to lead on complex people matters, including organisational change, workforce planning, employee relations, and organisational development initiatives.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for a proactive and credible HR professional who can build strong relationships and influence at all levels.
You will have:
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 minimum, Level 7 desirable) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner or within a senior HR advisory role.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing complex employee relations issues and organisational change.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a wider HR team.
- A customer-focused approach with a passion for delivering outstanding people services.

Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford Road, London, SE4 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary
£52,269-£54,360 per annum (PO4)
N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
