HYG designs, engineers, manufactures, sells, and services a comprehensive line of lift trucks and aftermarket parts marketed globally under the Hyster and Yale brand names. We are one of the global leaders in the Material Handling industry and have been building relationships and partnering with our customers, suppliers, dealers, and employees for over 80 years.
We bring over 236 different products to the market, ranging from the smallest pallet truck to 48 tonne container handling trucks.
Primary Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide People Management coordination and leadership, under the direction of the HR Manager, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Craigavon Plant. This will be achieved by managing and coordinating the HR business processes by providing direction, guidance, policies, reports, and recommendations to the Local Management teams. The role also supports the people management success for all of the Craigavon Plant.
The incumbent will provide professional support in the development of the HR Department’s direction to ensure equality, positive Employment Relations with employees and Unite the Union; innovative and effective Attraction, Retention and Engagement initiatives; robust Departmental cost control; the development of HR plans and strategy; support HR Manager in the development, consultation and implementation of HR policies and initiatives site wide.
Key Accountabilities
Recruitment:
- Support headcount analysis, hiring, promotions, recommendations, proposals, and temporary workers ratio.
- Continually develop and improve on-boarding process to deliver innovative Induction programmes, using technology where possible. Support and advise colleagues regarding career coaching and Performance Management & Development.
- Develop strong links with major universities and Regional Colleges/Schools via regular attendance at Careers Fairs/events to ensure best calibre of students for Undergraduate Recruitment Scheme and apprenticeships/HLA’s. Adopt innovative approaches to improving this programme year on year and increasing range of contacts with education sector.

Talent Management:
- Manage talent alongside LLT via Succession Planning and Profiling with Line Managers.
- Demographic review and analysis.
- Identify and promote affirmative action activities in order to address under-represented groups in the Company e.g., Support government women's STEM Project as per Project Charter, Weld Academy and other relevant initiatives.
Employee Relations:
- Manage and conduct discipline and grievance investigations, hearings and appeals. Confident ability to defend decisions and actions if challenged at Tribunal.
- Coach and support Line Managers through the process.
- Work with Line Managers to ensure delivery of a goal-oriented, time lined performance management process. Support management of underperformance and progress through disciplinary up to and including dismissal as necessary.
- Deliver mediation sessions where appropriate as an alternative to formal disciplinary action particularly in bullying and harassment cases.
- Analyse cases and prepare legal responses overseeing the defence of the Company against tribunal claims.
- Manage, monitor, and analyse employee engagement levels via Employee Surveys, Staff Forum and Unite/Management Forum to improve morale and avoid industrial action.
- PMP intervention; ongoing training and development/ support/ advice/ counselling.

Management of HR Systems:
- HROne, Crown, JMS, Performance Management Gateway and all associated reports, finance, accounts, budgets.
Finance:
- Support HR Manager, in the preparation for annual pay negotiation process.
- Research government financial trends local Company strategies and Industrial key data from recognized sources. Prepare financial analysis for presentation and consultation with senior management.
- Overtime/WTD analysis, reporting and monitoring.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- University Degree in a relevant area or equivalent CIPD qualification.
- 5-7 years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary HR environment, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Chartered membership of CIPD
- Systems literacy
- Leadership; project management, change management, emotional intelligence, communications and negotiations skills
- Knowledge of Employee Relations and legislation
- Experience working closely with Unions
