We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join Romac Logistics, based at our new flagship operation in Chesterfield with responsibility for supporting our wider business.
This is a key, business-wide HR position, partnering with operational and senior leaders across the Romac Logistics network and providing commercially focused HR support within a fast-paced, 24/7 transport and logistics environment.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with General Managers, Transport Managers, Warehouse Managers, and senior stakeholders across the organisation, developing a detailed understanding of their operations, people challenges, and future workforce requirements.
You will provide practical HR advice, coaching, and constructive challenge to management while ensuring decisions are consistent, fair, and aligned with employment legislation, company policy, and the wider needs of the business.
Based from our Chesterfield operation, you will act as a central HR partner for the wider Romac network, working closely with management teams to ensure a consistent approach to people management across the organisation.
You will take a proactive approach to employee relations, absence, performance, engagement, retention, and workforce planning, using HR data and operational insight to identify trends and support improvements across the business.
As Romac Logistics continues to grow and develop, you will play an important role in supporting organisational change, strengthening management capability, and helping us create a consistent, high-performing culture across our network.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as a key HR Business Partner to operational and senior leaders across the Romac Logistics network, building strong relationships and providing commercially focused HR support.
- Coach, advise, and constructively challenge managers at all levels, helping to strengthen people-management capability across the business.
- Provide expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring a consistent and effective approach to people management.
- Take ownership of complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, conduct, absence, and performance cases.
- Work with operational leaders to improve employee engagement, retention, attendance, and overall employee experience.
- Support organisational change, including restructuring, changes to working practices, and consultation processes where required.
- Partner with Recruitment and operational management to understand current and future workforce requirements and support effective onboarding and induction.
- Analyse HR metrics including absence, turnover, retention, and employee relations, using data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop practical people plans and actions in partnership with operational leaders to address identified challenges and improve performance.
- Support succession planning, talent development, and the identification of future leadership and capability requirements.
- Ensure HR policies, processes, and procedures are applied consistently across the Romac network and remain aligned with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Promote a positive, high-performing culture built around ownership, accountability, and respect.
- Work collaboratively with Recruitment, Payroll, and other central functions to provide an effective and joined-up people service.
- Support wider HR projects and people initiatives as Romac Logistics continues to grow and develop.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager.
- Strong generalist HR knowledge covering the full employee lifecycle.
- Experience supporting a multi-site workforce would be highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Proven experience independently managing complex employee relations cases.
- Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, and performance management processes.
- The confidence to coach, influence, and appropriately challenge managers and senior leaders.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility across different levels and areas of an organisation.
- A practical and commercially aware approach to HR, with the ability to balance employee considerations with operational and business requirements.
- Experience analysing HR data and KPIs to identify trends, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities within a multi-site business.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to identify issues and drive actions rather than waiting for problems to escalate.
- High levels of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
- Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, or another 24/7 operational environment would be highly advantageous.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be advantageous.
