HR Business Partner | Food Manufacturing | Full Time, Permanent | Home Based with regular travel in the North (Nottingham up to Newcastle)
We are supporting a growing organisation with the appointment of a Regional HR Business Partner. This opportunity would suit an experienced HR Business Partner who enjoys working closely with operational leaders, providing pragmatic HR advice and making a genuine impact across a geographically dispersed workforce. The role is home-based, with regular travel required across the region, covering locations broadly between Nottingham and Newcastle. As such, the role would be particularly well suited to someone based around Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire or North Nottinghamshire, giving easy access to the wider patch. You have to be flexible with your working pattern to suit the needs of the business.
The Role
Working as a trusted HR partner to regional and operational leaders, you will provide a commercially focused, hands-on HR service across the full employee lifecycle. You will build strong relationships with managers, coaching and challenging them where appropriate, whilst ensuring HR policies, employment legislation and best practice are consistently applied.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with regional and operational leaders to understand business priorities and deliver effective people solutions.
- Providing expert advice and guidance across the full employee lifecycle.
- Managing and advising on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability cases.
- Coaching and developing managers to improve confidence and capability in dealing with people issues.
- Supporting organisational change, including restructures, redundancies, TUPE and other workforce initiatives.
- Using HR data and workforce information to identify trends, risks and opportunities and inform business decisions.
- Supporting performance management, talent, succession planning, engagement and retention initiatives.
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and acting as a credible HR advisor to the regional leadership team.
- Ensuring HR policies and processes are applied consistently whilst providing pragmatic, commercially appropriate solutions.
- Supporting wider HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider HR function.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
