Full Job Description
Help create a work life that makes a real difference.
We’re looking for an HR Business Partner to provide proactive, visible HR support across a portfolio of schools in South Central England—ideally around Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire or Oxfordshire (with regular regional travel).
About The Role
You’ll be a key point of contact for Headteachers and operational leaders—using people data, engagement insights and employee relations trends to spot where support is needed, then work with leaders to deliver practical, measurable action plans.
This is a school-facing role: being present, understanding what’s happening on the ground, and translating insight into sustainable improvement are at the heart of what you’ll do.
Please note: day-to-day employee relations case management is supported through specialist HR Advice. You’ll instead use ER activity themes to drive learning and improvement within schools.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Spend at least two days per week on-site across your allocated schools, increasing support where required.
- Build strong relationships and provide coaching and constructive challenge to improve people management capability.
- Review key workforce indicators (including absence, turnover, retention, vacancies and engagement) and act early on trends.
- Support engagement and culture improvement through meaningful, measurable action plans.
- Identify ER themes and ensure recommendations and learning from cases are embedded effectively.
- Work with senior leaders to monitor progress and hold delivery to account.
- Collaborate with HR Advice, HR Operations and specialist teams to ensure smooth communication and handovers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
