The opportunity you've been waiting for

Shape how leaders lead, influence the people agenda and make a visible difference to a successful technical business.

Our client is an established technical business in Aberdeen where safety is a lived value and managers are expected to lead well. The HR team are sourcing a Business Partner who can sit alongside those managers, understand the operation and help them make better people decisions.

The remit is broad and senior: employee relations, manager capability, performance, engagement and people data. True business partnering, three days a week.

Key deliverables

  • Become the first call for managers on people matters, with advice that is practical, balanced and commercially sound.
  • Guide absence, conduct, capability, grievance and change cases through to a fair, consistent and timely outcome.
  • Coach and challenge managers so they build the capability to handle more on their own.
  • Shape workforce plans with operational leaders and support recruitment from role scoping to selection.
  • Make onboarding the point where new starters feel welcome, clear on expectations and ready to contribute.
  • Strengthen performance and appraisal processes so feedback and development conversations happen regularly and mean something.
  • Use HR data to spot trends and risks early, turning them into clear insight for management.
  • Support engagement and employee voice activity, helping managers respond constructively to what they hear.
  • Contribute to HR projects and policy improvements that create a consistent experience across sites.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A bit more about our client

Our client is an Aberdeen-based technical business with teams working across several sites.

Four values shape how it operates: Trust, Excellence, Safety and Teamwork. They show up in daily decisions and HR is expected to help keep them there.

The HR function is set up to partner with the business. This role puts an experienced adviser right next to the managers who need one.

Denholm's take

Part-time hours with a full partnering remit is a combination worth paying attention to. What stands out to us is the brief itself: help managers get genuinely better at managing people.

If that's the part of HR you enjoy most, we'd like to talk. Confidential and at a time that suits you. Contact Leigh Anne Jordan at leighanne@denholmassociates.com.
