Are you a seasoned HR professional looking to make a strategic impact?

WIILMA is seeking a HR Co-Lead to head up our People & Culture function to set up, define, and lead our volunteer talent function.

What difference will you make?

As WIILMA undergo an exciting organizational transformation, we need another HR expert to build a motivating, high-performing environment that attracts, develops, and retains dedicated volunteers.

WIILMA exists to tackle loneliness & isolation and increase Community cohesion through Community Education projects around World music, Arts, History, Heritage and culture.

We also do advocacy in a number of different areas including for people with seen an unseen disability.

What are we looking for?

About You

  • Experienced in HR, talent acquisition, or organisational development (experience in scaling a business/growth is highly beneficial).
  • Experienced with advising on and applying UK employment law as an embedded part of every activity
  • Process thinker with a hands-on approach to implementing new processes.
  • Strong empathy, with the ability to build a positive culture and nurture volunteer relationships.
  • It is not essential that you are CIPD qualified. However, this will be desirable.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Setup & Growth

  • Establish the HR Function: Define, implement, and maintain volunteer policies, processes, and procedures from scratch to support organizational scaling.
  • Strategic Growth: Partner with senior management to align people strategy with business growth, fostering a culture of transformation.
  • Culture Building: Cultivate a positive, inclusive environment in line with our core values, boosting engagement and performance.
  • Legal: Some experience and understanding regarding UK legislation and how it applies to volunteering.

Volunteer Talent Acquisition & On-boarding

  • Full-Cycle Recruitment: Develop and lead a robust talent acquisition strategy to source, secure, and onboard suitable volunteer colleagues.
  • Volunteer Experience: Create a seamless onboarding experience that sets new volunteers up for success.

Development & Performance Management

  • Performance Culture: Work with management to implement appraisal and feedback systems that enhance volunteer performance.
  • Career Development: Create in-house initiatives and learning opportunities for volunteer career growth.
  • Succession Planning: Implement volunteer succession planning in agreement with leadership to ensure stability.

Operations & Advisory

  • HR Advisory: Provide day-to-day best practice advice to management and colleagues.
  • Volunteer Relations: Proactively manage volunteer relations and, if necessary, implement capability and grievance measures.
  • Risk Mitigation: Ensure smooth, professional processing of onboarding and terminations.

Projects & Training

  • Training & Development: Collaborate with Department Heads to devise tailored training plans and oversee booking.
  • Leadership Coaching: Provide coaching to management to strengthen leadership capability.
  • Special Projects: Lead HR-related projects aimed at improving organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
