HR Coordinator / HR Assistant

Location: Wolverhampton, WV4 6FB (Hybrid, 3–4 days on-site)
Job type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum + benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Fortress Safety as an HR Coordinator / HR Assistant and sit right at the centre of our People & Culture team. You'll be the day-to-day owner of Workday, our core people system, keeping our data accurate and our processes smooth from hire to leave. From onboarding new starters and supporting recruitment to compliance, L&D and engagement, you'll help make people operations across Fortress consistent, efficient and genuinely brilliant. It's a hands-on, highly visible role in a growing, purpose-driven organisation — with plenty of scope to grow your own career too.

What you'll be doing

  • Organise and deliver end-to-end new starter inductions globally, including HR sessions, Workday onboarding workflows, pre-employment checks and day-one activities
  • Act as the Workday Superuser and system administrator — maintaining records, safeguarding data integrity, optimising workflows and producing reports
  • Coordinate HR administration across the full employee lifecycle (starters, movers and leavers) with accuracy and care
  • Support recruitment — coordinating hiring processes, contract and offer letters, and new hire system setup
  • Manage compliance activities such as right-to-work checks, mandatory training and policy adherence
  • Provide first-line support to managers and employees, escalating complex matters to HR Business Partners
  • Spot opportunities to improve efficiency across the Talent & Culture team
  • Maintain HR trackers, dashboards and documentation to support reporting and audits
  • Coordinate learning and development activities, including logistics, attendance and learning records
  • Support engagement and communications initiatives, including surveys, benefits administration and employee experience
  • Help bring company events, engagement initiatives and wider people programmes to life

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience as an HR Coordinator, HR Administrator or similar in a fast-paced environment
  • Workday Superuser experience (or a comparable HRIS) — system administration, workflow configuration, data integrity and reporting
  • A sound understanding of core UK employment practices, HR administration and compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while keeping data accurate
  • A process-minded approach, with a track record of improving and streamlining ways of working
  • Confident communication and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive, confidential information
  • Working towards — or willing to undertake — CIPD Level 3 or 5 (or equivalent on-the-job experience)
