We’re looking for an experienced, values-led HR professional to coach and mentor our HR colleague as they complete their CIPD Level 5

Offering around one hour a week, you’ll be a supportive sounding board, building their confidence, professional judgement and HR practice.

What difference will you make?

Your support will help our HR colleague grow in confidence, skills and professional judgement, strengthening our HR function and helping us better support our team of 25 staff. By investing in the people behind our charity, you’ll ultimately help us continue providing the best possible support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for an experienced, values-led HR professional who enjoys supporting others to grow and develop.

You’ll ideally be CIPD qualified at Level 5 or Level 7, or have equivalent senior-level HR experience, with strong practical knowledge of HR and employment practice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Most importantly, you’ll be a supportive and encouraging coach who can listen, ask thoughtful questions, share experience and help our HR colleague develop their own confidence and professional judgement.

Experience within a charity or small organisation would be helpful but isn’t essential. We’d particularly value someone who is approachable, pragmatic and comfortable working in a values-led organisation supporting young people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds.

Remote

What will you be doing?

The volunteer will provide regular coaching and mentoring to our HR colleague, who is currently undertaking their CIPD Level 5 qualification and developing their HR knowledge and experience within the charity.

Meeting for around one hour each week, you will act as an experienced and supportive sounding board, helping them to

  • Work through day-to-day HR questions and challenges and consider appropriate approaches.
  • Develop their confidence, professional judgement and practical HR skills.
  • Reflect on more complex or unfamiliar HR situations and understand good HR practice.
  • Apply learning from their CIPD Level 5 qualification within a real organisational setting.
  • Identify areas for development and build their capability as an HR professional.
  • Keep up to date with relevant HR practice and employment law, where appropriate.

You will be supporting our HR colleague rather than taking responsibility for the charity’s HR function or individual HR cases. The focus is on coaching, mentoring and knowledge-sharing, helping them develop the confidence and capability to make well-informed decisions themselves.

Our HR colleague works across a broad range of people matters and has the opportunity to make a real difference to our organisation. We’re keen to invest in their development and would love an experienced HR professional to be part of that journey.
