Job Title: HR Consultant
Salary: Band G, SCP 32-37 (£44,253 - £49,817)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE
Contract: Fixed Term Contract

We have two fixed-term HR Consultant opportunities available:
- 12-month fixed-term contract (Maternity Cover)
- 10-month fixed-term contract (Secondment Cover)

About the Role
As an HR Consultant, you'll be a trusted adviser to managers across the Council, providing pragmatic, professional, and solution-focused HR support.
Working closely with HR Business Partners, managers, Trade Unions and stakeholders, you'll play a key role in helping services manage workforce challenges, deliver change, and create positive working environments where people can thrive.
About You
We're looking for experienced HR professionals who bring credibility, resilience, and sound judgement.
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Have substantial experience of providing professional HR advice within a complex organisation.
- Are confident managing sensitive and complex employee relations casework.
- Have experience supporting organisational change, restructures, or workforce transformation initiatives.
- Can build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Are pragmatic, solutions-focused, and able to balance risk with business need.
- Enjoy working at pace whilst maintaining high professional standards.
- Are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
- Demonstrate resilience, positivity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
