About The Role
We are seeking an experienced HR professional who enjoys variety, complexity, and the opportunity to work with different organisations. This could be the role for you. Our HR Consultancy team combines practical people expertise with employment law insight, helping clients tackle everything from day-to-day HR challenges through to business-critical strategic projects.
About The Team
Our HR Consultancy team sits within HCR’s Employment and Immigration team, providing organisations with practical, commercially focused support across the full employee lifecycle.
By combining HR expertise with legal insight, we help clients navigate everything from day-to-day HR challenges through to complex organisational change, workplace investigations, and strategic workforce projects.
As our consultancy offering continues to grow, we are looking for a HR consultant who is passionate about HR and project management. We are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and has experience in playing a key role in delivering integrated HR and legal solutions.
About The Role
This role will offer variety, and no two days will look quite the same.
You will be a trusted adviser to a varied portfolio of clients, providing practical HR support that helps organisations manage their people effectively. From supporting managers with employee relations matters to supporting or leading the implementation of organisational change on the ground, you’ll be involved in a broad range of interesting and often complex projects.
Working closely with employment lawyers, you’ll provide joined-up advice that combines commercial HR expertise with an understanding of the employment law landscape alongside an in-depth knowledge of the client.
Your work is likely to include:
- Working directly with clients through project-based assignments/secondments, giving you genuine insight into the organisations you support. This can include being seconded directly into a client’s HR function to either lead or support the implementation of HR projects on the ground.
- Advising clients on employee relations matters.
- Leading workplace investigations and mediation assignments that will include complex and sensitive matters.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, policies, handbooks, and HR documentation.
- Supporting restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfers, and organisational change projects.
- Advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence management processes.
- Delivering client training, workshops, and employment law updates.
- Contributing to business development for the HR Consultancy team both internally and externally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
