Role Overview
A multi-billion dollar AUM hedge fund is seeking to hire a newly created 'HR Director' for its London office.
Responsibilities
The Director level hire will work in an expanding HR team, with a remit split between HR generalist, HR strategy, and management responsibilities. The hire will take global ownership for a specific part of the business (e.g., Front Office, Non-investment, technology, etc.), running oversight/management of all HR responsibilities front-to-back + broader business HR strategy. This extends to management of HRBP's that cover BAU for the respective area of the business. Those BAU tasks include recruitment, HR reporting, HR processes specific to the business unit (e.g., Performance Management, Staff handbook attestations, SMCR Staff certification process) & compensation and benefits.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
Candidates should have 10yrs+ relevant HR experience, within a hedge fund, IB or prop trading firm. A CIPD qualification is preferred, but not a necessity (the firm are happy to fund a CIPD/IMC/CFA qualification). Candidates should ideally have a strong academic profile.
Compensation
There is no set salary band for the role – my client will instead focus on providing the successful candidates with a strong increase on his/her current base. A top performer will receive a large % of their base as an annual bonus. It is worth noting that the firm offer one of the best benefits packages in the London Hedge Fund space.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
