About us

Zion Care is a growing, family-run care provider with 15 care homes across the North of England, the Midlands and Sussex.

We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist / HR Advisor to join our small, busy and knowledgeable HR team.

This is a true generalist role with plenty of variety. You'll have your own portfolio of care homes, working closely with Home Managers and Regional Managers and providing practical HR advice across a broad range of issues.

We're friendly, approachable and down to earth rather than highly corporate, but we take our HR advice seriously and pride ourselves on being professional, knowledgeable and practical.

About the role

No two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to get involved across the full range of generalist HR, including:

  • Providing practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Taking ownership of your own HR caseload, managing disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence matters, with support from the HR Managers where cases are more complex or higher risk.
  • Working with our external employment law service and gaining exposure to ACAS Early Conciliation and employment tribunal matters.
  • Supporting the onboarding and integration of new homes and employees following TUPE transfers as the business grows.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, training and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Supporting HR systems, records, reporting, compliance and HR projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
