We're growing and we're looking for a skilled, experienced HR Investigations Specialist to join our bank team.
About Marches HR
Marches HR is a multi-award-winning, founder-led HR consultancy. Our investigations work sits apart from our generalist HR support... it's predominantly for public and not-for-profit sector clients, including organisations working with children, young people and adults at risk / vulnerable adults.
About the Role
This is dedicated investigations work... leading cases from scoping through to a robust, evidence-based report, on misconduct, bullying and harassment, grievances, whistleblowing and other sensitive complaints. These are rarely clear-cut. Competing accounts, safeguarding considerations, power dynamics and difficult judgement calls are the norm... no smoking gun, just careful, fair weighing of credibility and evidence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For
You'll thrive here if you're:
- A proven, hands-on investigator - with a track record other HR and legal professionals, and the leaders you've worked with, can vouch for
- Ideally backed by a recognised investigative practice qualification
- A skilled investigative interviewer and confident report writer, producing findings that stand up to internal and external scrutiny
- Objective and evidence-led, while truly mindful of everyone's wellbeing, with a trauma-informed approach
- An established HR or legal professional with real specialism in investigations and a solid grasp of the employment law context around them
- Experienced with regulated professionals and/or safeguarding-sensitive cases - this is a strong plus
The Details
- Zero hours worker arrangement - accept or decline cases as they come
- No guaranteed hours; clients typically need a response within a week of a case arising, so this suits someone who can start work on a case at short notice
- A typical case runs to around 40 hours over 4 - 8 weeks (sometimes more for complex cases) - you'll need real capacity to flex significant hours into that window, not just scattered availability
- Prep and report-writing can flex around early mornings, evenings or weekends; interviews and client-facing work sit within normal business hours
- Predominantly remote (around 90% of investigations run via video call) but you'll need your own vehicle for occasional in-person meetings, hearings or office visits
- Clients are based across England and Wales; some cases require attendance at a hearing, regulatory proceeding or tribunal as investigating officer
