HR Manager - Nelson Hotels & Inns
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5pm
Location: Head Office (Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa) with occasional travel across all five sites
Nelson Hotels & Inns is a family-owned hospitality group operating five award-winning sites across Cheshire and the Wirral. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on HR Manager to deliver day-to-day HR operations and provide practical support to managers across the business.
This is a fully operational role, suited to a confident HR professional who enjoys managing the full employee lifecycle, handling ER cases, supporting recruitment, and ensuring consistent HR practice across multiple sites. You will work closely with managers and our HR Officer to provide a reliable, compliant, and approachable HR service.

Key Responsibilities
Operational HR Delivery
- Provide day-to-day HR support to managers across all sites
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, induction, performance, absence, and offboarding
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, contracts, and personnel records
- Ensure smooth HR processes and consistent standards
- Liaise with Payroll to ensure correct data flow and timely resolution of queries
Employee Relations
- Lead disciplinary, grievance, capability, and wellbeing cases
- Conduct investigations and support formal hearings
- Coach managers on practical people management
- Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant case handling

Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with employment law, right-to-work checks, and record-keeping
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures
- Liaise with external advisors when required
Learning & Development
- Support managers with training needs and skills gaps
- Assist with delivering practical development initiatives
About You
We are looking for a HR professional who is:
- Experienced in hands-on, operational HR
- Hospitality experience is highly advantageous together with Level 5 CIPD
- Confident managing ER cases end-to-end
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused, and commercially aware
- Calm, professional, and resilient in a fast-paced environment
- Approachable and confident supporting managers at all levels.
