Purpose of Role

We are looking for an HR Manager who loves the breadth of HR and, fundamentally, enjoys working with people.

We want someone who believes good HR is about helping people perform at their best. That means supporting and developing people when things are going well, but also being comfortable having honest conversations, challenging where needed, and helping managers tackle uncomfortable situations and issues.

You'll have real ownership of the day-to-day HR service across Madano. This is a genuinely broad generalist role; recruitment, employee relations, performance and development, HR systems and data, policies, administration, and everything in between.

We're growing, so we're not looking for someone who simply wants to maintain an HR function. We want someone who wants to help us grow, and who wants to grow and develop themselves along the way. You'll be encouraged to spot things that could work better, bring ideas, use data to challenge our thinking, and help shape how we support our people as the business develops.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing pragmatic and confident advice to managers and employees across employee relations, performance, absence, capability, conduct, and other people matters.
  • Managing recruitment from role approval through to offer, onboarding and probation, creating a great experience for candidates and new joiners.
  • Supporting managers to get the best from their people through good objectives, regular feedback, development, and effective performance conversations.
  • Owning HR administration and employee lifecycle processes, including contracts, changes, employee records, HR systems, offboarding, and accurate payroll/benefits administration.
  • Leading the coordination and delivery of learning and development activity, including identifying development needs, sourcing and organising training, monitoring the L&D budget, gathering feedback and using insight to shape future activity.
  • Maintaining practical, legally compliant HR policies and processes.
  • Supporting salary reviews, promotion process, and related reward activity.
  • Producing and interrogating people data; looking beyond the numbers to understand what they're telling us and where we might need to act.
  • Helping us get more from our HR systems, improving the quality of our data, and identifying opportunities to make our processes smarter and more efficient.
  • Working with the wider leadership team on people, culture, and engagement projects and priorities across Madano and, where appropriate, AVENIR GLOBAL.
  • Supporting employee wellbeing, inclusion and engagement, including employee voice activity, reasonable adjustments and initiatives that strengthen the day-to-day employee experience.
  • Leading the planning and delivery of key internal events and celebrations, from major company events such as the Away Day and Christmas party to recognising birthdays, work anniversaries and important personal milestones.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The person we're looking for

You’ll have substantial broad generalist HR experience and be confident independently managing a varied HR workload, including complex employee relations matters. We’re looking for someone who is CIPD qualified, but we're also just as interested in how you think and approach the job.

You're likely to be someone who is curious, pragmatic, and comfortable getting stuck in. You genuinely enjoy helping people succeed and you're interested in what makes someone perform at their best, what might be getting in their way, and what we can do to help.

Equally, you recognise that supporting people sometimes means having a difficult conversation, challenging someone, or giving clear and honest advice. You'll have the confidence to give a view, while also having the judgement to know when something needs escalating.

You'll be commercially curious. You don't need to arrive knowing everything about consultancy, utilisation, or productivity, we can teach you that. What we do want is someone who wants to understand how the business works, asks good questions, and is interested in how people decisions connect to business performance.

We want someone who likes people and data, and is comfortable with numbers. You'll be interested in what our people data is telling us, confident using systems and spreadsheets, and willing to dig a little deeper rather than simply producing a report. You'll use information alongside your HR judgement to spot patterns, ask better questions, and help us make better decisions.

You'll be organised and detail-conscious without being overly process-driven. You can move comfortably between advising a senior leader, talking to an employee, analysing some data, and making sure someone's contract has actually been issued.

And importantly, you don't take yourself too seriously. HR deals with serious things, but that doesn't mean we have to be serious people all of the time. You'll have personality, a sense of humour, and enjoy being part of the business rather than sitting on the edge of it.

What You'll Bring

  • Demonstrable broad HR generalist experience, including independently managing employee relations matters. An HR qualification, ideally CIPD Level 5 or above.
  • Good practical knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Recruitment and onboarding experience.
  • Confidence using HR systems, spreadsheets, and people data.
  • Strong judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills across different levels of seniority.
  • Commercial curiosity, in that you want to understand how the business makes money and how people decisions contribute to its performance.
  • A willingness to get involved across the full HR lifecycle, from advice and projects through to the administration that makes everything work.
