HR Manager (Employee Relations Focus)
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Office requirement: 5 days per week on-site, with occasional travel to services
Salary: £50,000-£55,000
Holiday: 20 days + Bank holidays + birthday off
Are you an experienced HR professional who thrives on building positive workplace cultures and managing complex employee relations matters?
At Abacus Care & Support, we're looking for a proactive and people-focused HR Manager to lead our HR function and become a trusted partner to managers and employees across our supported living services. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact within a growing organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries and complex needs.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading complex employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and safeguarding-related matters.
- Coaching and supporting Registered Managers and Team Leaders on people management best practice.
- Driving employee engagement, wellbeing and retention initiatives across the organisation.
- Owning HR policies, reward and benefits, workforce planning and organisational change projects.
- Producing HR insights and strategic reporting for senior leadership and the Board.
- Lead on recognition and wellbeing initiatives that support staff retention and a positive experience of working in the organisation.
- Own the organisation's HR policy suite end-to-end: drafting, review cycles, legislative compliance and version control, incorporating issues surfaced through ER casework and manager feedback.

About you:
We're looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience managing complex ER casework.
- Previous experience operating at HR Manager level.
- A solid understanding of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
- Experience within a regulated, people-focused environment such as health, social care, NHS or a similar sector.
- Experience operating in an audited, highly regulated, people-intensive environment such as care, health, NHS or a comparable regulated sector. Skills are transferable, but sector familiarity is an advantage.
- CIPD Level 5 (Level 7 desirable).
